Commit to Anti-Racism

To live in an anti-racist society means to be willing to speak up against policies and laws that harm other people, even if you aren’t the one directly impacted. It is to unlearn information and processes that continue to replicate systems of oppression. It is also taking accountability for your contributions to these systems, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

A Call to Action

On my journey to creating a more anti-racist society, I commit to:

Power

Understanding my positionality in the systemic marginalization of others, advocating for and coaching others in expanding the voice and influence of marginalized populations, and increasing their role in decision-making.

Empathy

Uncovering and challenging my own and others' implicit and explicit biases by acknowledging, appreciating, and seeking to deeply understand various identities and perspectives, and the impact they have on each individual human experience.

Relationships

Seeking out opportunities for myself and creating opportunities for others to engage with individuals from differing backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, and actively work to dismantle hostile environments for these individuals.

Mindset

Facilitating the expansion of knowledge about culture, history, politics, values and beliefs; helping others pursue questions about diversity; and regularly engaging in ongoing reflection to explore my own identity.
